The PROUD Project is a not-for-profit research hub dedicated to furthering employment access for disabled workers. Many jurisdictions have human rights and employment equity statutes that seek to include qualified disabled adults in the workforce. However, these individuals continue to struggle in securing and maintaining employment. According to a 2017 study by Statistics Canada, 59% of the 16 million Canadians with disabilities aged 25 – 64 are employed compared to 80% of Canadians without a disability.
The PROUD Project conducts original qualitative and quantitative research across multiple employment sectors across the world. We produce scholarly and public research articles, identify emergent and promising practices, and propose policy recommendations for both private and public employers.
As Canada’s only 100% disability led and staffed research hub on employment and disability, The PROUD Project offers certificated workshops, professional development courses and customized trainings for companies, firms, educational institutions, organizations, and advocacy networks.
